MOBILE ADDICTION TREATMENT
Mobile phone addiction is a type of addiction associated with a device. This non-toxic addiction falls under behavioral addictions in which an uncontrollable vice develops. Sometimes, not carrying or not having access to the mobile phone leads to symptoms of discomfort, anxiety and even disorders, also known as nomophobia.
Dealing with mobile phone addiction is critical because of the negative impacts this addiction can have on a person’s mental health, interpersonal relationships, and overall well-being.
First of all, excessive mobile phone use can lead to problems such as anxiety, depression, and lack of sleep. Constant exposure to social media, games, and online content can lead to a sense of dependency and negatively affect emotional health.
In addition, mobile phone addiction can significantly interfere with interpersonal relationships.
SYMPTOMS OF MOBILE ADDICTION
As for the most descriptive symptoms of this disorder, it is worth mentioning:
Feeling anxious
Tachycardia
Obsessive thoughts
Headache
Stomach ache
Experts consider that the nomophobic is an insecure person with low self-esteem. Women tend to suffer from it in a greater proportion than men, since their brain structure provides them with a greater need for communication and affective. Regarding age, the sector most prone to suffer from it is that of adolescents.
STUDIES ON MOBILE ADDICTION
The study revealed that almost 53% of mobile phone users in the UK suffered from anxiety when losing their mobile, running out of battery or credit, or having no network coverage.
According to other conclusions of the study, approximately 58% of men and 48% of women suffered from this type of phobia, while an additional 9% manifested stress when their mobiles were off. In this sense, the proven levels of stress of a person with nomophobia are comparable with the nerves that are had the day before the wedding or the visit to the dentist.
Of the users surveyed, 55% said that the disorder suffered was motivated by the fact of feeling isolated from possible calls or messages from family and friends, while 10% considered that the reason was attributable to the fact that their work required them to be permanently connected.
Nomophobia is a disorder that suffers, without being conscious, more than half of the population. According to statistics, smartphone users check their phones an average of 34 times a day.
